Self-Screening for TMJ

To get yourself out of pain you first have to know what the problem is.

Use your symptoms to screen yourself for TMJ Disorder. A study published in 2011 looked at a TMJ Screening Questionnaire with specific and pointed questions to parse out if a patients symptoms were related to the TMJ or to some other facial pain.
The 700 patients were then seen by the TMJ doctor, had x-ray studies and an exam that showed weather they truly had TMJ related issues or something else. The patient's questionnaires were then looked at to see if they accurately predicted the results.
The Questionnaire accurately predicted TMJ related issues 99% of the time. When the questionnaire said the patient didn't have TMJ problems (despite their facial pain) it was right 97% of the time.
